“Sara Rosen’s PHD method of teaching Hebrew is the best I have ever seen. Between the curriculum and Sara’s masterful teaching, students really learn how to read Hebrew.”

Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun
“From my experience, PHD is an extremely effective and thorough program. The students acquire the basic principle of the Hebrew code, while learning the letters and the vowels. The program provides sufficient opportunities to practice the skills of the written language, allowing students who completed it to read Hebrew phonetically with accuracy and fluency. One of the important advantages of PHD is that both children and adults enjoy the process are motivated to do the work. ”

“In my role as the Hebrew Learning Specialist at the Rodeph Sholom Jewish Day School in NYC, I have been working with PHD materials for many years. Although many of my students often present some learning disabilities, they have been able to successfully acquire Hebrew reading and writing with PHD. Parents sometimes share with me their surprise as they see their children learn Hebrew reading while still struggling  in English. I believe that’s because PHD is a constructivist methodology that builds on success. It follows the principles of the best findings in literacy and second language instruction research. It was created by Sara Rosen, a knowledgeable veteran Hebrew teacher that combined her extensive experience in Hebrew instruction for English speakers together with the top of the line in second language instruction research. Additionally, I have successfully applied  this methodology at the Pelham Jewish Center Religious School as well as with the Jewish Community in Cuba, with students from 7 -70 years old. I can attest that this is the “no learner left behind” Hebrew reading learning method we all have been waiting for.”
